Lara Owen has a deep and varied background as a facilitator of personal development, with thirty years experience. After graduating from Warwick University she worked as a counsellor with young adults while studying Chinese medicine, which she practiced for most of the 1980′s before studying psychotherapy in Switzerland and the US.
Lara is the author of several books including Her Blood Is Gold, a groundbreaking work on the psychological and physical effects of cultural attitudes to menstruation (first published in 1993 by Harper Collins, reissued by Archive Publishing, 2008).
Lara has lectured internationally on healthcare, spirituality, psychology, astrology, and creative process, and her articles have been published in both popular magazines and professional journals. She works as a consultant with individuals, the creative professions, and spiritual organizations. Her work is influenced and enriched by study in several spiritual traditions, in particular indigenous nature-based traditions and Tibetan Buddhism. She is also an accomplished and internationally-respected astrologer.
Born in England, she has travelled widely, and lived on the West Coast of the US for fifteen years. She now lives in southwest England and works with clients all over the world by phone and internet. Her most recent book, Growing Your Inner Light: A Guide to Independent Spiritual Practice, was published in 2009 by Beyond Words/Atria Books (Simon and Schuster).
